What happens if you save lucas simms

Ashen Seraph , 29 Oct 06 Dec This mission is first acquired from the Sheriff Lucas Simms of Megaton by speaking about disarming the bomb. It ends when you either disarm the bomb and talk to him again or detonate the bomb with the device given to you by Mister Burke in Moriarty's bar. If you want to destroy the town, you'll want to make sure you have completed all other quests from Megaton that you are wanting to complete.

Obviously setting off a nuclear device will quickly cause you to fail most of those quests. I recommend not blowing up Megaton. Since in the early stages of the game I use it as a base of opperations. You get your first home there and thier is a shop, repairshop and a clinic.

Posted by Jackso O Gilead on 29 Oct 08 at If you do blow it up, you get a sweet in Tenpenny Tower instead. Either way, it is the only place you get that you can call home in the entire game. Personally, I wouldn't blow it up either cause there are a lot of quests that run through here, including several with achievements.

Posted by Ashen Seraph on 30 Oct 08 at Of course, you know that Burke then shoots him in the back. When I saw him draw his pistol, I drew mine, and did a VATS attack on him before he could shoot, but I was at low level, so I wasn't able to dispatch him and he gunned down Simms.

Wondering if it's possible to save him? It's is possible to kill burk before he kills Simms, I did it once. You have to be around level 10 though, enter VATS the moment the converstation between Simms and Burk end and give him a headshot or two. Be quick about it though, Burk only needs one bullet to kill Simms.

It odesn't affect the game whatsoever, Simms will just be alive and wonder around Megaton like he always did. The town sheriff and mayor either 1 just got murdered or 2 heroically saved the town from nuclear destruction yet no one, from the bloody tavernkeeper who was standing fewer than ten feet from the gunfire to the cult leader whose God was theoretically just disarmed, consider it worth even a single mention in dialogue.
